30th of March 2005
Poker serves the good turn to the police who can easily increase the rating of exposed crimes by preventing or breaking up poker games during the playing. Recently one more illegal game was stopped. All money, poker chips, computers and player lists were confiscated.
No-one was arrested this time - fortunately.
The game was held regularly and rather often - almost every day. It was staged by the apartment owner - Edwin Park. The players were to pay an entry fee of $40 and gave 10% of every hand to him. The host employed several dealers and possessed two poker tables where thousands of dollars swapped the owner. The police have been investigating the case for at least a month and exposed the 'poker room' by the means of undercover officer. Strange is the fact that the police received the information only at the end of March - the neighbors heard noise, smelled cigarette smoke and encountered groups of players since January. Seems like this didn't bother anybody around, so it was stopped only now. The morale is that - be careful and play only quietly and in trusted company.
