Southgate is getting ready to become a Texas Hold’em arena this fall. Though many formalities are still on the way to getting settled, the date for the fundraising tournament is already scheduled for October, 15, Ron Blanchet reports. It, however, can still be shifted to November, depending on how it goes with the license, the building, etc.
Ron is a member of the Southgate Optimist Club, an organization about to host the event.
As mentioned above, the main goal of the Southgate poker tournament is fundraising. That could be a nice opportunity for both Southgate residents and tourists to combine fun with charity.
The Club is now considering the place where to hold the tournament. Apparently, the local Community Center can be the best bet. Yet, the charge for using its facilities can be as high as $540 (including the clean-up, set-up and bartending) plus a $300 fee. As Blanchet was happy to inform us, the Optimist Club managed to reduce the fee by $60, promising that they would do the set-up themselves.
