Singapore has considered plans of building two casinos. That is going to boost its economy, the Business Times reports.
Singapore’s forty-year ban on casinos is finally over, and now the country is eager to profit from gambling and also from the foreign visitors and tourists that gambling can bring with it.
The two proposed casinos will be finished in 2009. Their existence is likely to create a mini economic “boom” for the country.
Thus, there are going to be about 30,000 new occupations available for Singaporeans. Two-thirds of the jobs, however, will not be directly connected to the resorts.
The authorities hope that the casinos will draw tourists to Singapore. Thus, 8.3 million people were recorded to have visited Singapore in 2004. This number will triple by 2009 and reach 17 million people, the authorities expect.
