25th of April 2005
A police chief declares war to illegal poker in one of the towns in Minnesota. He decided to do this because the number of requests for holding charity poker has rapidly grown during this year, and he had enough of it. Not all requests fitted the legal requirements, and he considered the laws to be followed precisely.
In the majority of cases, there were contradictions with the law limits. The cash prizes exceeded the $25 limit, and the organizations were not always non-profit or have been existed for less than two years. Add to this the frequency – poor chief receives requests for bazaar permit (with poker games, of course) almost every day.
He warns those who want to get permissions in future that they will have to be able to hold the gambling tournaments or something like this only three times a year, no longer than 5 hours per event. If not, they can receive two years of jail or pay a big fine. Of course, this is only warning, but harsh law enforcement is recommended.
