Poker tends to become a source of income for multiple charity organizations and helps not only unknown people who can be considered as a mass, but individuals. Carrie Carabello (Fort Morgan, Colorado) can be called one of the latter.
Carrie was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer this January and is to go to Denver weekly for chemotherapy treatment. Wiggins Mom group she belongs to, decided to take care of her fate.
They held a dinner, an auction and a poker tournament which helped to raise more than $12,000 for Carrie. First event raised $1500 - this was done by about 300 people. Auction featured more than 120 items and raised about $5,700. The tournament attracted 96 players and so $4,900 more were raised.
The winners of the Texas Hold'em received interesting prizes - a solid oak poker table, poker chips and pool cues. All participants say it was a great night and it surely was. It helped one family, rallied one community more and made act of kindness which can be regarded as an example for the others.
