There are multiple reasons for holding poker tournaments – researches, education, charity goals, for nothing, eventually – but how do you imagine poker for dogs?! Yeah, recently a poker tournament for dogs was held in Des Moines, Iowa.
The tournament was to raise funds for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. About $12,000 will help nearly 10,000 homeless or abandoned dogs and cats to survive. Of course, no animals played poker – but it would be cool to see a cat bluffing or a shaggy dog going all-in after a tough bet/raise, eh? Seriously, the main prize for the human winner consisted of the amount of $5,000 and a four-day trip to Las Vegas. And what about the reason for the game – the animals themselves? Some of them were adopted during the tournament. Others just received material assistance.
