The following case illustrates once again that cheating can backfire both the cheater and the people who penetrate the deception. Two men in Moundsville, West Virginia. quarreled during a poker game because of cheating, and it ended with a scuffle, broken arms and imprisonment.
Four friends decided to play poker one evening, and all went good until the moment when one of the players became suspicious about his companion. Furthermore, when a winner grabbed the money and tried to leave, the accused snatched a club and began to beat the luckier man. Later he said he had been defending himself. When the police arrived, first no-one pressed any charges, but then after the victim detected that his arm was broken, he changed his mind. Now the offender stands charged with felony malicious wounding and remains behind the bars on a $10,000 bond. Seems that $40 were worth future expenses of thousands.
