Illinois lawmakers approved the bill that would permit creation of new scratch-off lottery. The income from the lottery will be passed to the charity – veterans programs and breast-cancer research.
The lottery is named “Ticket for the Cure” and is said to generate about $13 million – ten for the veterans and three to the research. Money will help soldiers who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, health insurance troubles and homelessness.
Not all lawmakers were voting for the project with great desire – they apprehended that this lottery would decrease income from the other state – educational – lottery. Time will show if this thought is right.
