Gambling was permitted at New Orleans-based cruise ships and riverboats in Louisiana. The ships must meet the following requirements: they must have at least 400 overnight berths, cruise for not more than 48 hours and allow gambling activity only during cruising. Really, there is only one suitable ship in New Orleans that belongs to the States – others have foreign owners.
This action was made to increase advantage in the world of growing competition and show that gambling is an amenity. The collected tax from activities, estimated $500,000, and will be divided between local government, state and the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
