11th of May 2005
Illegal gambling was disclosed in three fraternal clubs and a tavern in Jeffersonville and New Albany, Kentucky. The businesses took horse bets illegally on the derby day and operated 10 video poker machines.
The police expected the burst of illegal gambling activity and raided only four businesses just because there were only six police officers available on that day. If more officers were free, the number would be much bigger.
The officers confiscated more than $5,000 in cash and fined the establishments. This is not the first time this happens – last year it was the same thing. Seems that bad experience didn’t serve an exemplary to them.
