New Brunswick authorities and police prevented one more poker game recently. To say, it was a charity poker game.
The charity group United Commercial Travelers - UCT - wanted to raise some money this year as they did last autumn, but were warned by the police that it would be illegal and the officers would gather the evidences this time. Facing such a threat UCT had nothing to do but to cancel everything depriving more than 300 people to play and make a contribution to the charity.
All gaming events are regulated by the department of finance in New Brunswick. Still, seems that nothing is regulating the poker tournaments in the province. Charity poker is one of the most common activities and thus is attracting attention of the police more frequently.
UCT and other charity organizations want to license charity poker tournaments. It is supposed to be one of the main sources of income for them. Let's wish them luck and favor of administration.
