Gambling can turn the nice schoolteacher into a thief who steals money from hospital to fulfill the fierce desire to gamble. The example of such addict is Linda Resmini from Ontario, Canada. She stole about one million dollars to spend more than one-half at the local casino and in online gambling.
She was a nursing administrator at the children hospital, combining this job with the high-school teacher occupation and nighttime gambling. She created two false patients to obtain money on the treatment and used her authority to sign cheques for them. Her final and really the biggest theft was a million from a fund for newborns in need of reconstructive surgery for cleft lips and palates – all this was done to gamble! When she was arrested, she was claimed to return the money and to pay the $500,000 tax. The hospital also tried to return money from the casino where she played, but it didn’t lead to anything.
By this moment she was sentenced to two years of prison. And this is fairly – not all means are fair on the way to gain money for gambling.
