Poker penetrates everywhere - in private homes and offices, in the hearts of students and senators. Alaska senator John Cowdery enters into the spirit of the trend and wants to legalize poker rooms in Alaska State. This will let people enjoy their favorite game and play for fun and for money; houses will gain profits, paying a fee per each game.
Of course, poker games are played in Alaska - but illegally. Legalizing would rise the state tax income and without a doubt increase the number of poker addicts. That's why senators expressed a neutral opinion with regard to the bill which was presented to them, and at the same time refused to give any comments on the question. To estimate the benefit I'd just give some numbers - 13 card rooms will bring about $2.5 million dollars. Taxes will amount up to $50,000 per table each year.
Again, the problem of choice that is exercising the minds - to develop social illness or to receive income in taxes and fees - is to be debated. Surely, the final decision will be right.
