After Registering
So you are registered at an online poker room. You have some money on your deposit. Maybe the sum is a bit bigger than you originally put on your account (to find out how it happens read the article Sign-Up Bonuses).
What should you do next? Well, it depends only on you. If you are still not sure about your poker skills, you can proceed playing for fake money. But if you are dying to participate in a real money action, forget about all that childish stuff and click the button “play for real money.” After you do it, you’ll immediately find yourself in a lobby. A lobby is the place where you can choose the game (e.g.: Holdem, Omaha or Stud), and the table. There are usually many tables with different limits, those with the smallest ones listed in the beginning and with the highest – in the end. A number f players which are sitting at each table is also available. Sometimes you can find very useful additional information like flop percentage or average size of he pot.
Once you choose the table you liked the best just click on it’s title (as every table has his own) and you’ll be transferred to it. If the table is full, you can either change your mind or put your name in the waiting list. As soon as there will be a seat for you will be informed. Usually they give 2 minutes to decide whether to enter the game or to quit.
But if there are some vacant seats you can choose whatever you like. Choose the buy in with which you will enter the game. Do not put your entire bankroll as it will define you as a fish. However, you’ll have to wait until the button passes your sit. Once it happens you have two options: either to post a Big Blind or to wait until you will be in the position of the Big Blind.
It is better not to show that you are impatient and observe the game for a while. That will allow you to work out the strategy against some of the players with lesser expences.
